Derek Worthington was born and educated in Manchester in the north of England.  After attending Art college he took a job in an advertising agency where the seeds were planted for a long and successful career in London and Madrid.

Retiring to Malaga, he started painting which he had done occasionally throughout his career. He paints mainly landscapes in oil, acrylic and water color with now and then forays into abstract construction. He has exhibited frequently in galleries along the coast
